The Ecoslate System

Eco-Slate has transformed the use of slate as a roofing material and made it much more affordable. Long considered a prestige roofing product the discerning homeowner can now enjoy the beauty of a slate roof without the premium price tag.

The unique Eco-Slate interlocking modular panels use only half the slate that is required on a traditional slate roof construction. Each unit is made with Slate “to French Standards” laminated to high density waterproof insulating sheet. This gives the roofing modules immense structural strength and provides a totally waterproof base for the slate pieces themselves. It’s this rugged durability that gives you peace of mind when the next hail storm comes to visit. In the event that a slate piece is broken the roof still remains totally waterproof and the slate can be simply replaced. Insurance companies should love our product.

You can feel totally secure with an Eco-Slate roof, unlike those many homeowners who have suffered thousands of dollars of damage with broken roof tiles in hail storms. When this happens the damage to ceilings, woodwork, furniture and carpets is heartbreaking, not to mention the chaos endured with the wait in the queue to get the damage repaired.

The built-in insulating sheet gives the home excellent noise retention capabilities and an R-1.5 rated thermal insulation without any extra cost. Keep the heat where it belongs, outside in summer, inside in winter with no rain noise to endure.

Each interlocking module carries five or six slate pieces each which makes for very fast and safe installations. The roof can be safely walked on immediately without the same degree and risk of breaking slates as in conventional slate roof construction.

Slate is truly one of the most enduring natural materials in the building industry.
As such it requires little or no maintenance. It is perfect for seaside properties which are exposed to salt air which is detrimental to many other roofing substrates.

Why Eco? Why Slate?

Eco……..it uses only half the slate of traditional methods.
Eco……..it’s thermally insulated with an R-1.5 rating

Ridges and hips can be flashed with Terracotta
ridge caps for the Federation look, with
colorbond for the Colonial look or our slate
module cappings for the European look.
Our 1200mm long capping modules are
prefabricated and laminated to aluminium
flashing. Easy to use they just slip over each
other for waterproofing and can be folded to
suit the roof pitch. Alternately for a modern look, ridges, hips and valleys can be done with a mitre joins.

The completed finish looks the same as a
traditional slate roof installation.

Now you can stand back and appreciate the
prestige of a true Eco-Slate roof on your home.
